Here we have another of Dr Benton's why series books and he presents it to us in a very simple, easy to understand way , what he is speaking of. I have found he explains things very clear. The why we do things and how we can take steps to change the bad habits is just one more step in an education to finding out life can be better than some of the things we are doing that cause us to appear to be either stagnant and not happy or even going backwards and not forwards,

To achieve any goal we need to set our thinking right. Taken in small steps it is easier to achieve than trying to do so with a giant leap every once in a while and find we don't make it.
Dr Benton spends much time setting out how to achieve a goal like breaking bad habits by taking steps to improve each day in a small way and staying steadily going forward, and reaching the desired target.

What is it you want to get rid of , a bad habits that has been with you for a while , we can have emotional problems from our past that are still being played out in our lives today and for some reason we may not even be aware of, as we continue in some bad habit or a certain pattern .

Dr. Benton has ways to help us understand some of what is going on inside of our thinking. "Mindsets" These can work against us as well as work for us. Many of us just need to be shown the way out and follow it, but you know it's a choice.

I've read several of Dr Benton's "Why" series books, but I think this one is the best one. Don't get me wrong, it's also the hardest one to read if you're looking for sunshine and lollypops. It's kind of like looking in the mirror and looking into your eyes. Most of us don't want to admit to flaws of any kind, not even to our selves. The reason I gave this a 5 is that he offers solutions... rather that just point out the problems.
This author believes that we form bad habits because our minds think subconsciously rather than consciously. He feels we need to focus on the positives when defining goals for ourselves and filter the laws of attraction and distraction. We need to work on our conscious mind and the rules of motion and retrain ourselves to focus on forming better habits. This is an interesting read about human nature and I look forward to applying these theories in my daily life.

I love the Why Series by this author and have purchased several of them. This one in particular gives insight as to why we have bad habits. Dr. Benton first starts with the foundation on how we establish those habits to begin with, then how to break them. There is a great explanation on how the mind works both consciously and subconsciously and how if we just understand the laws of attraction, but more importantly the laws of distraction we would be more focused. A great book written by someone who clearly understands how the human mind works. I look forward to applying in my daily life.
I love the why series of books. I have always been interested in knowing the answers to "why" about things. Dr. Benton outdid himself with this book. I thought everything was explained in great easy to understand detail. I've heard of the law of attraction, but not the law of distraction! His books are fascinating to say the least, but I always seem to favor one chapter over the others. Avoiding and getting rid of bad habits would of course seem to be common sense. But still, the chapter on the law of attraction appears to be the answer to the why of bad habits as far as I'm concerned. Get attracted to this book and rid yourself of bad habits. Recommended reading!
Being very familiar with the so-called law of attraction and energy healing practices, I was pleased to hear about what Dr. Benton calls the "law of distraction."

Think about it - you can think about, dream about, say affirmations about and even take action on creating what you intend - but if you get distracted, what happens? Nothing. Or less than what you intended. Good addition to the discourse, which could have been just another repeat about the mind and how it works.

I'm giving this book 4 stars, because I'd like to see more direct 1, 2, 3 directions on HOW to do what he talks about. It's an enjoyable read, especially if you haven't thought much about how you think!

We all do exercise for the body, well this is ninja training for the mind.

It is here the mind creates its own fantasy world where distractions, desires and emotions become the playground of destructive behaviors. Knowing what to do is key, and this is where Dr. Benton comes in and opens up the door. His rational analysis of bad habits gives us the tools to cut through the noise and take action to improve the quality of our lives so that diversions, distractions and destructive behaviors will never get the opportunity to turn into bad habits and deny us our true destiny.
