Despite it being extremely short I enjoyed this story by Megan Derr. It was set in the same universe as “Behind the Mask” but is totally unrelated and can be read as a stand-alone story. My biggest complaint was I wanted more. I wanted to know what happened after the end of the story. All in all, it was a very entertaining story. Just wish there was more to it.

I bought this directly from the publisher because, WTF, . Stop adding $2 randomly to ebooks for buyers outside the US (. I get it if it's implemented across all books and if I'm using a 3G, but it's not and I have a Wifi only model. Ah well.

Anyway, I went on buying spree of Megan Derr's books over the holidays so I currently have I think all her books, and I've been working my way through them. This little story is probably the smuttiest of the lot I've read so far which was unexpected as I'd come to expect sweet, cuddly, fluffy romance from this author with sex scenes few (if any) and far between. Not so with this book, but I'm not going to complain about smut. Especially when the main characters are so adorable, even though one is a cursed bloodsucker and the other is a halfling Incubus.

Naoki and Gosse basically seem tailor made for each other. Fair warning though that I'm the type of reader who hates, hates, hates heavy melodrama and angst in the stories I read )too much of that in real life already, ugh) so this short story was something I really enjoyed.

I've also read the other story in the masked series (Behind the Mask) and actually like the whole concept of the Clans. I just wish we could get a full length novel with them.

Anyway, loved this and was sorry to see it end.

Megan Derr has an easy touch. This is another good story, not to heavy on the drama or angst. I enjoyed it.
A good story for the second book in the series. I love the way she tells the stories and brings the characters to life.
